Stone Sour have taken on one of the most ambitious projects in recent rock history with the release of their albums ‘House of Gold & Bones Part 1′ and ‘Part 2.’ With ‘Part 1′ a fixture on several 2012 year-end Top 10 lists, including our own, the stage is set for ‘Part 2′ to get the spotlight when it arrives on April 9.

We caught up with Stone Sour singer Corey Taylor and asked him about the challenge of taking on a project where the songs follow a storyline that continues from ‘Part 1′ to ‘Part 2.’
“It’s definitely a challenge,†the Stone Sour frontman tells us. “It was important to me to make sure that the music and the lyrical content were just as righteous to the project as the story was. So there was a lot of bouncing back and forth on my part, doing rewrites and punching up the short story and making sure that all the beats were there and that it was as exciting as I wanted it to be.â€
He adds, “I’m the kind of writer where I like to grab the moment and keep it fresh, but with this I knew I was going to have to make sure that everything was moving right along. Plus, I wanted to make sure that the songs themselves could live autonomously from the concept itself. I wanted the songs to be amazing songs and I wanted the album to move the story, so yeah, it was a great challenge, but it was something where I really relished it.â€
Taylor concludes, “I’d never tried anything so big before and so vital. Between the short story and the songs and making sure that people really got into the story as much as I did, yeah, it was a lot of work. But it was a good challenge and I really feel that we rose to the occasion and we made something that is probably the biggest thing of our career.â€
