Nintendo Download: 18th April 2013 (Europe) - Nintendo Life

An awakening, various adventures, a Kung Fu rabbit and more

As it's a Monday, Nintendo of Europe once again gives gamers in the region something pleasing to get the week started. This time around we have new and old games for Wii U, 3DS and DSi, with some rather decent discounts being added to the 3DS eShop for good measure. Let's get right to it.

Wii U eShop

Kung Fu Rabbit (Neko Entertainment, €4.99 / £4.49) â€" This, as we exclusively revealed in late March, is Neko Entertainment's second release on the Wii U eShop after Puddle. Ported from its smartphone original, this 2D platformer includes wall-jumping and disappearing blocks reminiscent of Super Meat Boy, while there are apparently 80 levels to battle through. We'll achieve a Zen-like focus to bring you a review soon.

Wii U Virtual Console

Kirby's Adventure (Nintendo, €0.30 / £0.30 until 17th May, normally €4.99 / £3.49) â€" The latest entry in the Famicon 30th Anniversary celebration on Wii U, Kirby's debut adventure will be available at this special price for one month. A platforming classic that's also had the 3D Classics treatment on 3DS, this in an enjoyable, creative game that's still a blast to play today. We'll give a fresh take on this when it lands on Wii U, but until then you can check out our Wii Virtual Console Kirby's Adventure review.

3DS eShop

Super Little Acorns 3D Turbo (Pixel Toys, €4.99 / £4.99) â€" Another 2D platformer that began life on smartphones, this 3DS version includes 60 story levels and 30 challenge stages, representing a 50% increase in content over the original. You run, jump, swing and bash your way to collecting as many acorns as possible, so we'll head out into nature and get working on a review.

3DS Virtual Console

Dig Dug (Namco Bandai, €3.99 / £3.59) â€" A notable example of the early NES era that was packed full of action-based arcade puzzle games, this title gives you the task of digging around an area and finding ways to take out threatening enemies. It's simple and ultimately all about score-chasing, which we feel is potentially worth a spin in our Dig Dug review.

3DS Retail Download

Fire Emblem: Awakening (Nintendo, €44.99 / £39.99-- While the series is loved by some, this title stands out for its ability to stay true to its demanding strategy RPG principles while making small accommodations for those diving in for the first time. An epic, detailed quest expanded with multiple DLC offerings, this has been critically acclaimed and is the highest-selling entry for the series in North America to date. It finally arrives in Europe on Friday 19th April, and you can see why we think you should buy it in our Fire Emblem: Awakening review.

3DS eShop Temporary Discounts

This week sees the three Guild01 titles reduced (hopefully preceding confirmation of the Guild02 equivalents), alongside another title that is well worth consideration with its narrative, story-driven approach.

Liberation Maiden (Level-5, €4.99 / £4.49 until 30th May, normally €7.99 / £7.19)

Crimson Shroud (Level-5, €4.99 / £4.49 until 30th May, normally €7.99 / £7.19)

Aero Porter (Level-5, €2.99 / £2.69 until 30th May, normally €4.99 / £4.49)

Virtue's Last Reward (Rising Star Games, €24.99 / £19.99, until 2nd May, normally €40.00 / £30.00)

DSiWare

Forgotten Legions (Cypronia, 500 Nintendo Points) â€" This is a side-scrolling real-time strategy title that, in our view, plays a little more like a tower defence game. While the idea may have promise, the slow tempo, lack of skill required and messy visuals let this one down. Check out our Forgotten Legions review for full details.
